Left, a very nice photo of Munzenberg's inner ward, taken in 1978. The vistors provide excellent perspective and an idea how large the towers truly were. The tower is the western one, which is not open to visitors (at least at this time).
Right, two photos from approximately the same angle, the first in 1978 and the second in 2005. It would appear that the town had expanded some since then.

Above and left, two views of the eastern tower and the outer bastions that were added in the 1400s. Small outer walls were added to help protect the base of some of the walls from missile fire, whether trebuchets are later cannons.
