Left, the bell collection in the castle. This collection is very impressive and a must-see!
Below, a section of the chapel. This portion is the Protestant section and was placed below the Catholic section. Restoration work has repaired the wooden floors and support beams.
Left, the turret that houses the bell collection as seen in 1978.
Right, a view of passageways now without their floors. Reconstruction work is obvious, especially in the lower section. The passageways link several residential areas of the castle.
Left and above, close up shots of the wooden floors. In this case the floor joists are supported by a in-built ledge in the wall. The restoration was painstakingly done, as can be attested to by the straw and mud packing between the joists.
Right and below, views of the restored stairs in the towers.
Right, a view in one of the subterranean tunnels beneath the castle. This tunnel led to a gate on the side of the hill. By and large this tunnel is authentic with only minor repair work done to shore up the stone work.
