Work your way through the main gate and then to the base of the main structure, the inner ward and the walls that overlook the Ahr River.

Below, the Ahr River and a part of Altenahr.  There is a new railroad bridge with the old one still in place.
Left and left below, portions of the walls as part of the inner ward and living quarters.

Below, a view of part of the living quarters that illustrates the problem of debris fields.  Note how the joist holes in the wall for the next floor appear to be excessively low.  This is because there is a debris field possibly three feet thick.  This is formed by part of the collapsing structure and then gradually flattened and smoothed out by weather and human activity.
Left, looking east down the Ahr River valley, a truely beautiful view.

Below, part of a wall showing a fireplace and shored up sections including a bricked in window.
